Dear conference registrants,

Welcome to Future Directions in Science Journalism!

Thank you for your interest in our conference and for registering. We look forward to seeing you this weekend.

PROGRAM
I hope you have been checking back at our Web site www.sciencejournalism.net regularly. As you may have already noticed, you can now find the full conference program as a PDF file (1.8 MB). A printed copy of the program will be provided with your registration package.

Within the program you will find information about getting to UBC and a map of the downtown core that indicates the accommodation we recommended.

SCHEDULE
Evening events on Friday, November 9 begin at 7:30 pm at the Wedgewood Hotel downtown. Light refreshments will be served.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 am on Saturday, November 10 at the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies on UBC campus. Welcoming remarks begin at 9:15. You will also be served lunch and dinner.

BANQUET
If you are only coming to the banquet, we expect this part of the day to begin around 6:15 pm. This also takes place at the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies.

**If you have signed up for the conference but are not able to attend the evening banquet it would be very helpful if you let me know.

JOURNALISM SCHOOL VISITS
The conference location is just across the road from the UBC School of Journalism. If you wish to visit the school at some point during the activities please just let a student, staff or faculty member know. We would be happy to show you around the building.

QUESTIONS?
If you have any questions about the conference please just let me know. It’s going to be a busy week, but I will reply as quickly as I can.

Whether you are flying, driving, taking a ferry, hopping on the bus or just walking a few metres, I wish you a safe journey to the conference!

See you soon,
Eric
